Had rt knee replacement 1 yr ago Dr. Bontempo. Excellent outcome. Unfortunately he has left the area and I had to see Dr. Beck. for left knee that is now in need of replacement. Beck prescribed physical therapy for a month with the understanding surgical date would follow. He lied. He walked into room, said he did not want to do my surgery because I am over weight. I was over weight a month ago, A yr ago and had no problems. Beck was cold, condescending, dismissed me, no apology for wasting 5 weeks, is a very snotty matter said "go lose weight". Atlantic Orthopedics is falling apart,, office is dirty, staff not friendly. Beck is only one at AGH doing surgery. I do not recommend this man or the group.

On 9/24 leg was visually swollen and warm, went to walk in medical center - diagnosis: "warm and edematous "should have x-rayed and see specialist. Given presription for Naprison, and Oxicodone.

Paid last bill 10/23 - received revised reduced bill on 11/7; returned it requesting they keep reduction as they never bothered to give me as self insured any break on earlier bills, so why now.

On 9/28 follow up visit on arm, told Dr. Beck that knee was very uncomfortable and swollen, in fact had went to walk in medical center and got Naprison prescription . He looked at it, gave me absolutely no advise but to continue taking Naprison and make another appointment as new case. Earliest appointment that I could get was 10/28 - one month, even though told front desk that I was very uncomfortable - visually limping During month knee continued to increase in pain, swell to the point that days I could not walk nor sleep. The week or so before my appointment I called Dr. Beck's office to see if there was any way I could see a doctor earlier because of my pain and inability to walk or sleep. After several calls, I was told by very compasonate person that nothing was available earlier.

Immediately went to Doc's In Medical Center in Ocean City - was seen within minutes of my arrival. Diagnosed as Acute Knee Joint Inflammation - Bursitis, given a Cordisone & pain Injection - within 24 hrs pain became bearable and 72 hours swelling of knee and entire leg was pretty much back to normal. To think for a month I stayed in pain waiting for Dr. Beck then to have his office cancel my appointment day before it was scheduled. It is for this reason that I am writing my first negative review. I would recommend that unless you have a prime insurance and not interested in questioning your care or medical bills, not to go to Dr. Beck - it appears he is only interested in number of patients not patient's care.

I was told not so nicely that was how bills were coded, and I would have to speak to Doctor. I told her that I would on my next visit. Might mentioned that I am self insured - with maximum amount requested paid up front and all follow up bills paid!

I was treated in July for broken humerus, and bruised groin from accidental fall. On 8/31 follow up visit mentioned to both x-ray technician and Dr. Beck that right knee was starting to pain and becoming uncomfortable to sleep. Technician commented was probably "compassion pain" from applying weight - protecting injured opposite side. No comment from Dr. Beck.

On the day before my 10/28 appointment, I was called and told that my appointment was being cancelled as Dr. Beck requested I see another doctor, because I questioned his charges and rude to his billing staff. I told the receptionist that I was extremely upset with with Dr. Beck's decision in that I was not rude and simply asked for qualification like everyone should, and he had no right to assume his billing personnel correct without anyone consulting me. I further reminded his office that I that I was in extreme pain.Young lady that I was talking to seemed very embarrassed and understanding. Minutes after I hung up I, I realized that no one should see a doctor who behaved as unprofessionally as Dr. Beck, called back and told his office same.

Husband was treated 2009 , only complaint is that Dr. Beck seldom took time to discuss condition, in fact very seldom even faced him.

In interim, I called and questioned billing desk as to 9/28 charge which was $4. more and identified as "shoulder x-ray" when in fact l 2 earlier discriptions were idenfied as "Humerus x-ray".
